What is casework?

If you are experiencing a problem with a federal agency, my office may be able to assist you in resovling your problem.

A federal agency is part of the President's Cabinet such as the Department of Agriculture or an independent agency such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. If you are unsure whether your problem involves a federal agency, visit the White House web page for more information.

While I cannot ask the agency to do anything they are not able to do under law or regulations, I can make sure all your rights are respected and that errors in procedure are corrected.

You may wish to contact the federal agency directly to see if they have the information you need or can look into your problem for you.

However, if your problem is a judicial or court matter, I cannot assist you as this does not fall under my jurisdiction as a U.S. Senator. For example, I cannot assist you with matters involving child custody, divorce or criminal trials or imprisonment.

Problems with Colorado State Agencies are also not under my jurisdiction as a U.S. Senator. For example, I cannot assist you with matters involving child support, welfare or state taxes. For these matters you should contact Governor Bill Owens at:

136 State Capitol
Denver, CO 80203-1792
Voice: 303-866-2471 Fax: (303) 866-2003
